County Social Services Building
Project: First and Second Floor Offices
Overview: This project encompassed the majority of the office area on the second floor of the large Madison County Social Services building, along with several offices on the first floor. The space included cubicles and densely outfitted interior offices.
The first task was to remove the existing broadloom carpet throughout the space, and then prepare the floors to accept new finishes. A lift system was employed to elevate desks and other office furniture off the floors in order to efficiently install carpet tiles in large open and cubicle areas. Approximately 2000 square yards of carpet tile were installed.
The biggest challenge was getting the job completed on an after-hours schedule, with the goal to be finished by the time employees arrived for work on Monday morning. Work began at 5PM on Friday. There was excellent collaboration between the GP installer crew of five men and five county employees. The project was complete by 3PM on Sunday afternoon.
